About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Plant City, WAIKIKI BOTANAS brings an authentic taste of Salvadoran and tropical flavors to every plate and cup. This vibrant restaurant and ice cream shop offers a delightful fusion of traditional dishes and refreshing treats that draw locals and visitors alike, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where every bite tells a story.

WAIKIKI BOTANAS is celebrated for its expertly crafted pupusas, a Salvadoran staple that here takes center stage. Whether you choose the Pupusas Revueltas—a hearty mix of chicharrón, beans, and melted cheese—or the delicately flavored Pupusa de Loroco y Queso, each is perfectly crisped on the outside, giving way to gooey, flavorful fillings that satisfy both comfort cravings and culinary curiosity. Topped with the signature curtido, a tangy, vinegary cabbage slaw infused with onions, carrots, and oregano, and accompanied by their own green salsa—a subtly spiced, bright compliment—the pupusas transcend mere food to become an experience. Customers repeatedly praise the freshness and attention to detail, with one visitor raving about the pupusas as “perfectly balanced between cheesy goodness and savory vibes,” making it a must-try dish for anyone eager to explore bold flavors.

Beyond pupusas, WAIKIKI BOTANAS offers a vibrant menu of sweet and refreshing delights. Standouts include the Mangonada, a thrillingly tangy and sweet frozen concoction that marries mango with a hint of chili, and the Cholado, a traditional Colombian shaved ice treat loaded with fresh fruits and syrups, delivering bursts of freshness that brighten the palate. The Pinas Locas and classic ice cream creations such as the luscious Banana Split and tropical-infused Pina Colada smoothies also highlight the menu’s commitment to freshness and vibrant flavor profiles. As described by delighted patrons, every smoothie tastes like “heaven in a cup,” showcasing the shop’s dedication to using only the freshest, high-quality ingredients.

What truly sets WAIKIKI BOTANAS apart is its welcoming, family-friendly vibe paired with genuine hospitality. Customers often remark on the warmth and kindness of the owners, turning first-time visitors into regulars. The casual, colorful setting invites guests to relax and savor each bite and sip, making it an ideal spot for a quick snack, a refreshing treat, or a satisfying meal that feels like a flavorful escape.

Whether you're new to Salvadoran cuisine or a longtime fan, WAIKIKI BOTANAS beckons with a promise of fresh ingredients, authentic recipes, and a joyful dining experience. It’s a treasure in Plant City where the textures of crispy pupusas, the zest of fresh salsas, and the sweetness of tropical desserts come together to delight your senses and nourish your soul.

Love the pupusas at this placebutttt expensive. They only had Revueltas (mixed Chicharron, frijoles/beans, and queso/melted cheese), Frijoles Y queso, and Chicharron Y queso but they are really good. Make sure you get some curtido (cabbage mixture with onions carrots, oregano, and vinegar you put on your pupusas). Also, she makes a green salsa that's really good and not too spicy. The salsa de tomate is just a light tomato salsa the pairs well with the cabbage and the pupusas. The agua de Limon is super fresh and just right. The mangonada is also fantastic. This place is a must try. The seating is outdoor on the side on a couple of bench tables. Bring mosquito spray if you go in the evening or just take-out. She is in the early stages of creating a menu, but you can go and ask inside for now. Or look online. #Onthecomeup hope they become more reasonably priced.

I Was in town to visit family, past by this little GEM… and so glad I did! The pupusas are fresh and made to order! I got the revueltas as well as the ones with just beans and cheese. Loved them so much that I stopped by the next day to get some more! I also tried their mango smoothie… it is heaven in a cup; using nothing but fresh ingredients you can taste it a sip at a time. Last but definitely not least I had their elote esquite and I could not get enough of it! If you want fresh authentic pupusas as well as other yummy treats, do not hesitate to stop by; you will not be disappointed. You will leave with a belly full of love and amazing flavors!

Tried popusas for the first time at Waikiki Botanas, and it was a hit with everyone! The taste was on point – a perfect blend of cheesy goodness, savory vibes, and a hint of comfort. The texture was just right – crispy on the outside, and that gooey, flavorful filling on the inside made it a real crowd-pleaser. If you're in for a taste adventure, these popusas are a must-try! A note on the speed of the cook. They mentioned it'd just be a couple of minutes for the order, but that short wait stretched into a solid half-hour. Be prepared for a bit of a wait.
